AWS Support and Resources

A topic overview of the AWS Support plans, the account tools Trusted Advisor and AWS Health, the AWS Partner Network and Marketplace, and the free technical resources AWS publishes.

AWS Support and Resources closes the Billing, Pricing, and Support domain. The earlier topics covered how AWS prices a service and how you keep a bill under control. This topic covers where you turn when you need help: the support plans you can buy, the tools that check your account, the partners and software you can bring in, and the free resources AWS publishes for learning and troubleshooting.

The line that runs through it is paid help versus free help. Support plans and a Technical Account Manager cost money and scale with your needs, but most of what AWS offers to self-serve and learn costs nothing.

What This Topic Covers

  • the five AWS Support plans (Basic, Developer, Business, Enterprise On-Ramp, and Enterprise) and what each adds in response time, contact methods, and account guidance
  • how AWS Support is priced, and which plans include a Technical Account Manager and the Concierge team
  • AWS Trusted Advisor and its five check categories: cost optimization, performance, security, fault tolerance, and service limits
  • the AWS Health Dashboard, and the difference between the public service health view and the personalized account health view
  • the AWS Partner Network for finding companies that build and deliver AWS solutions, versus AWS Marketplace for finding and buying software
  • the free technical resources: documentation, whitepapers, Prescriptive Guidance, AWS re:Post, the Knowledge Center, and AWS Skill Builder

Why It Matters

Support questions reward keyword recognition. "Designated TAM" points to Enterprise, "best practice recommendations" to Trusted Advisor, "public AWS service status" to the service health view, and "find and buy software" to AWS Marketplace. Knowing which plan or tool fits a need saves you from second-guessing under time pressure.

The same knowledge carries into real work. Picking the right support plan, checking Trusted Advisor and re:Post before opening a case, and finding a vetted partner or a Marketplace product instead of building everything yourself is how a team gets help without slowing down.
