Why It Matters

Most AWS work is not building something new. It is keeping something running: a scaling policy that overreacts at 3 a.m., a restore nobody has tested, an IAM denial nobody can explain. SOA-C03 is built around that work, which is why so many of its questions are diagnostic. You get symptoms and are asked what to check, not asked to recite a service definition.

Studying for it builds the habit the job rewards: reading a system through its own telemetry. Once you can trace a request through flow logs and tell which of two similar services a situation calls for, you can operate an AWS account you did not build.
